Priest Leveling Guide
Hey, MikemanX here,
Have you been on the net searching for a good priest leveling guide that can show you the best way to level a priest? I’ve been there, it’s tough, there is just so much conflicting advice! A while back I went through the same process and waded through all the information until I found one of the best priest leveling specs you’ll find out there, one that yields results.

Now what I’ve found is that if you want to maximize your leveling speed, you need to start off putting your talent points into the Holy tree, then once you reach level 49 or 50, switch over to Shadow as that is when it really starts to come into it’s own. Take note of the following build:
Levels 10-49 (7/27/3)
Shadow Talent Tree
Spirit Tap 3/3
Discipline Talent Tree
Twin Disciplines 5/5
Martyrdom 2/2
Holy Talent Tree
Healing Focus 2/2
Improved Renew 3/3
Holy Specialization 5/5
Divine Fury 5/5
Desperate Prayer 1/1
Holy Reach 2/2
Searing Light 2/2
Spiritual Guidance 5/5
Surge of Light 2/2
Levels 50-80 (Re-Spec Shadow)
Shadow Talent Distribution
Spirit Tap 3/3
Improved Spirit Tap 2/2
Improved Shadow Word: Pain 2/2
Shadow Focus 3/3
Improved Psychic Scream 2/2
Improved Mind Blast 2/5
Mind Flay 1/1
Shadow Reach 2/2
Shadow Weaving 3/3
Silence 1/1
Vampiric Embrace 1/1
Focused Mind 3/3
Mind Meld 2/2
Improved Devouring Plague 3/3
Shadowform 1/1
Shadow Power 2/5
Now, that’s pretty much all you need to know as far as talent point distribution is concerned…spell rotation is another ballgame though. When you’re in the holy tree, this is what you’re likely to cast:
Smite > Mind Blast > Shadow Word: Pain > Power Word: Shield > Devouring Plague
It’s an effective combination. However when you convert over to shadow, you’ll want to switch over to this:
Power Word: Shield > Vampiric Touch > Mind Blast > Vampiric Embrace > Shadow Word: Pain > Devouring Plague > Mind Flay
Now I had been following along with this priest leveling guide with my own priest, but things weren’t going as I had planned. It wasn’t until around levels 15-20 where I started realizing something was wrong…
I was leveling so damn SLOW!
I couldn’t believe it, here I had the optimal leveling plan but it wasn’t giving me enough information with which to level up at a decent rate. So I went and spoke to a fellow guildie who was really into power leveling. He mentioned that the priest leveling guide I should have a look into is called the Zygor Leveling Guide, he mentioned he’s been using it for all of his characters. Not knowing what this was, I looked it up…

I half expected it to be some book, but in reality it turned out to be an application that is run inside of WoW as an add-on. What happens is you have a green arrow that is placed in front of your priest and points you to new quests to pickup, then where to go to destroy your mission objectives and when and where to go to cash your quests in. By following it at all times, you’re basically leveling up at the optimal speed.
In addition to that you’re able to see a dialogue box which shows in writing the optimal quest taking sequence…so you might see:
Kill 5 Spore Harvesters in the Borean Tundra for “Vermin Extermination” at (43,23)
Obtain 10 Tempest Motes from Enraged Tempests for “Motes of the Enraged” at (21,24)
Turn in the “Vermin Extermination” Quest to Scout Tungok
Now this priest leveling guide had helped me substantially with my leveling, but it wasn’t perfect, here were the issues I had:
CONS:
- They used to have an HTML version of the in-game guide which I found useful outside of the game, but they have since removed it.
- They need more videos showing you how to do the hardest quests, also it would be good to have more class specific leveling info.
PROS:
- You get an add-on for the map, so when you open your mini-map, you can see visually where you need to go next in order to level up optimally. This works well in combo with the written info in the dialogue box.
- You also have a giant green arrow guiding you which means you don’t have to THINK when you level, just follow the arrow.
- You won’t get in trouble with Blizzard for this, it’s not a hack or cheat.
- You can not only use this as a priest leveling guide, but as a guide for any class.
- You gain access to a members only area as well as a lifetime access to future updates to the software.
- You get a 60 day money back guarantee.
Final Thoughts:
If you have had trouble with leveling a priest, or you just want to speed things along and avoid frustration, this priest leveling guide is definitely something to look further into.
I’ve been using this not just as a priest leveling guide but I’ve also used it on other classes and in each case I’ve been able to hit level 80 in 7-10 in-game days. It’s been a huge time saver and let me enjoy a lot of different classes.
